Dark Souls 2: Bonfire Consumables Rundown - Sublime Bone Dust

Hey guys, Cobalt Blue here once again and if you read my Rundown on Bonfire Ascetics then you should understand how this works and what I'm going to be talking about from the title. If you have no idea what this is about though, then I would suggest you take a look at the first because there may be something there that you may not know. Anyway, now that I've explained to you guys what Bonfire Ascetics are and how they can be used to affect your playthrough, for better or worse, I'll now talk about the second item you're able to burn at a bonfire known as Sublime Bone Dust.

Sublime Bone Dust

What is it and what does it do?

So what is this strange and mysterious item known only as Sublime Bone Dust, I here you ask? Well, to put it simply, it's ground up bone dust that can be very difficult to find with the unique function of upgrading your Estus Flask in terms of how much it will heal you from each swig you take. This can only be burned at the Bonfire in Majula and is reminiscent of the same role that the Fire Keepers in Dark Souls 1 had. Due to the new fast travel system being much more accessible with a wider array of locations to travel to, this new method to upgrade your Estus Flask can be be a lot easier and quicker when compared to the Fire Keepers as you would have had to search for ones that were still alive, if you know what I mean. We all know you wanted that to see what the loot was.

Anyway, the Dark Souls 2 Estus Flask upgrades are represented as numbers to the right of it's name when selected in your inventory and in your quick select menu. The Estus Flask is first acquired with no numbers next to it's name but one is added every time Sublime Bone Dust is burned (e.g. +1, +2, +3, etc) all the way up to a maximum of +5. This limit helps to stop Estus Flasks from being an item that will heal you back to full, even if you had an extremely high amount of vitality and keeps the game nice and challenging when heading into new playthroughs. However it has come to my attention that people have been able to raise it past this point so more research would be needed to find out if this is truly possible and if so, how it can be achieved.

That's all for now
This seems shorter then my other Rundown but there's not really too much to think about or take into account when talking about Sublime Bone Dust when compared to the other items. Once again, be sure to take a look at my other Rundowns for anything you may have missed out one and I'll catch you guys next time
